Protecting Productivity & Biodiversity: Community-Based Conservation in the Flint Hills

Learn from a diverse panel representing Flint Hills private landowners, federal, state, local agencies and NGOs as they explain how the three pillars of sustainability (ecological, economic and social) guide community-based partnerships that protect productivity and biodiversity in the Flint Hills. Panelists will share their stories and consider how they identify mutual goals and interests to foster biodiversity conservation while also protecting working lands. Along with learning more about these innovative partnerships, the discussion will include tackling invasive tree/plant control, patch/burn/grazing, sharing success through ranch tours, and the importance of information exchange and trust as the key to making it all work.
