Andrew is a cow-calf producer who manages roughly 6000 acres of native tallgrass prairie near Madison. His land management practices involve patch burning in both the fall and spring, stocking pastures at moderate density rates, rotational grazing with extended rest and deferred periods, spot spraying and mechanical tree removal.
He minored in agricultural studies at Butler Community college and graduated from Emporia State University with a BS in Math education. He is currently serving as President of Tallgrass Legacy Alliance, and President of the Greenwood County Conservation District. Andrew has been involved in many extensive tree removal and Sericea Lespedeza control projects with Wildlife and parks, USFWS (Partners program) and NRCS (Great Plains Grassland Initiative). Andrew has worked with the USFWS to enroll a majority of his land into a conservation easement with the intent to keep the land preserved for wildlife and future ranching generations to come.
