Becky Smucker

Bryologist

Becky's career as a field bryologist started as a retirement hobby but developed into an independent contract profession to which she is passionately devoted. She has conducted surveys for the National Forest Service, for state and national parks, environmental engineering firms, land trusts, Natural Heritage Programs, private landowners, and others who want to know more about their land and how to protect it. While her work has been focused in the southern Appalachians, she has experience in many states from Maine to Florida. She has a B.S. from the University of North Carolina Asheville in Business Management and in General Biology.
