Long-Term Studies of Restored Prairie Offer Insights into Achieving Conservation Goals


Sara Baer is the state biologist, director of the Kansas Biological Survey & Center for Ecological Research, and a professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of North Texas (1992), M.Sc. degree in entomology from the University of Georgia (1995), and PhD in biology at Kansas State University (2001). Her research uses long-term field experiments, comparative ecosystem studies, and natural variation in the environment to address theoretical and applied questions about factors influencing community and ecosystem change during ecological restoration, primarily in grassland.
