Moira McGinty Klos joined the Natural Areas Association (NAA) in December 2020 as Outreach & Communications Manager. In cooperation with organization leadership and staff, she oversees the promotion and delivery of natural areas programming and leads the organization’s communication plan to engage and inform multiple audiences within the natural areas and land management profession.

Prior to her role with NAA, Moira served as an executive in nonprofit/association operations for 24 years. Fulfilling a variety of management roles for the Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI), a nonprofit based in Fairfax, VA, she rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Moira was responsible for event planning, financial management, human resources, technology and facilities. Moira also holds the ECI certification, Leadership Professional in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC).

After leaving the ECI, Moira became a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP), qualifying for the designation from the Events Industry Council (EIC) in January 2020. As an event planner, Moira delivers comprehensive conference and meeting planning services that include the latest industry standards related to technology, logistical support, speaker management, physical distance & sanitation protocols, and production services.

Moira brings a strong background in programming, nonprofit management, business performance and strategy, complemented by a highly collaborative management style and successful track record in building cross-functional relationships. She is an experienced leader who can lead multiple detailed projects simultaneously.

Moira has earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration & Dramatic Arts from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA.
