Mary Long is the Regional Conservation Planner for US Forest Service Southern Region, which includes vegetation ecology. Her primary work is assisting the National Forests in the southeastern US and Puerto Rico to meet ecological sustainability desired conditions and requirements.
She is the regional contact for USFS Research Natural Areas and partnering Landscape Conservation Cooperatives, and provides technical assistance to USFS International Programs, Asia-Pacific Program. Mary earned her MS in Forestry and Environmental Policy, and BS in Plant and Soil Sciences from University of Tennessee. She also holds a certificate in non-profit management and serves on three NGO boards of directors.
