Tracy Rene’ Evans completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois with a major in Biology. She completed a Master of Science degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois (SIU-C) with a major in Zoology, and obtained her PhD from Leiden University in the Netherlands with a focus on Management Implications for Invertebrate Assemblages in the Midwest American Agricultural Landscape. She began working as a researcher at the Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory, SIU, Carbondale, IL, and then worked as a biologist for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in various capacities, including environmental and wetlands review. She retired from her IDNR position in 2013 and was appointed as Research Associate at the Illinois State Museum Research and Collections Center.
Dr. Evans has experience on numerous environmental boards and committees. She currently serves on the Illinois Endangered Species Protection Board and the Natural Areas Evaluation Committee for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. She served as editor of Erigenia, the peer review journal for the Illinois Native Plant Society.
