Cancellation of In-Person 2020 Natural Areas Conference

The staff and board of NAA have reached the difficult decision that convening our community in person for the 2020 Natural Areas Conference will not be possible this year.  This is the first time in 47 consecutive years of the Natural Areas Conference that we’ve had to cancel, so we don’t take this decision lightly.  Given the uncertainly of the pandemic and certainty that all of us will be under financial constraints, we feel that this is the right decision from both an ethical and financial standpoint.

While we will certainly miss seeing you all face to face, we are still committed to bringing you some of the rich and wonderful programming the conference committee has worked so hard to put together.  We are working on an engaging virtual format that will allow us provide as much research, technique and practical application of science as you’ve come to expect at a Natural Areas Conference.

NAA exists to serve you, our community, so we welcome any ideas, feedback, lessons learned and novel approaches you’ve seen as we move to a virtual learning model.  No matter what form this year’s conference program takes, it’s for you, so we want to hear from you as we begin to solidify our plans.

We will keep you updated as we move forward, and we thank you for being a part of the NAA community.
